Awards Program Overview

There are many opportunities for Vizient MidSouth members to win awards. Some are new. Some are improved. Some are unchanged. Please see below for details.

Brilliance Awards (formerly Leadership Awards Program)
  • Purpose: To recognize innovative projects and leading best practices submitted by member organizations through an application process.
  • Submission Process: Organizations at the facility or system level must submit an application online for consideration. The application submission timeline is from August to November each year.
  • Selection Process: Submitted applications are reviewed by a panel of peers who force rank the top ten applications. The applications with the highest scores are awarded the Brilliance Award.
  • Criteria: Open to all Vizient MidSouth organizations, applications must be submitted that describe an improvement project or an innovation based on the application criteria.
  • Recipients: Awards will be presented at the facility or system level for each category.
  • Recognition: Awards will be presented in Q1 of the following year.
  • Note: The Leadership Expo event and poster session will NOT be held this year.

Collaborative Top Performer Awards *NEW*
  • Purpose: To recognize the best performing hospitals in each collaborative.
  • Submission Process: There is no submission process.
  • Selection Process: Awards are given to the top hospitals that meet threshold criteria and demonstrate savings.
  • Criteria: Award criteria includes active participation/engagement in the collaborative and demonstration of at least one or more improvement changes at their facility.
  • Recipients: Awards are presented at the system or facility level as determined by the member’s method of participation in the collaborative.
  • Recognition: Awards are presented at each collaborative’s year-end celebration.
  • In March, the 2015 awards for the COPD Collaborative were presented to South Georgia Medical Center, Tift Regional Health System and WellStar Cobb Hospital. Click here for the press release.

    In May, the 2015 awards for the TJ&S Collaborative were presented to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, WellStar Douglas Hospital and WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Click here for the press release.

Council and Collaborative of the Year Awards
  • Purpose: To recognize the collective efforts and success of Vizient MidSouth members as a result of participation in a council and/or collaborative.
  • Submission Process: There is no submission process.
  • Selection Process: The Council and Collaboratives of the year are selected by an internal team at Vizient MidSouth.
  • Criteria: Each council and collaborative is evaluated based on participation, satisfaction and documented improvement within a calendar year.
  • Recipients: Individual participants in the recognized council and/or collaborative.
  • Recognition: Groups are recognized by the Vizient MidSouth Board of Directors in April of the following year. Individuals are recognized at their next meeting.
  • In April, the 2015 Outstanding Council of the Year was awarded to the Post-Acute Care Council and the 2015 Outstanding Collaborative of the Year was awarded to the COPD Collaborative.

Leadership Excellence Awards *NEW*
  • Purpose: To recognize Vizient MidSouth members who demonstrate participation and performance in three focus areas including Clinical/Quality, Financial/Operational and Innovation.
  • Submission Process: There is no submission process.
  • Selection Process: Leadership Excellence Awards are selected based on member-submitted data and active engagement with Vizient MidSouth’s offerings for each calendar year.
  • Criteria: Award criteria is pulled from submission and participation through Vizient MidSouth offerings. Organizations must perform in the top quartile and/or show improvement above the median. Winners are selected based on a participation/performance algorithm.
  • Recipients: The awards are presented to Vizient MidSouth member organizations at the system level.
  • Recognition: Awards are presented at the annual Trustee Institute event the following year.

In May, the 2015 winners of the Leadership Excellence Awards (formerly named Performance Excellence Awards) were presented to Hamilton Health Care System, Tift Regional Health System and WellStar Health System. Click here for the press release.
